Why Therapy
Why did you want to become a mental health therapist?
Many people have asked me over the years why I wanted tobecome a mental health therapist. The easy answer is that I want to helppeople, but in reality it goes much deeper than that. I know on a personallevel how therapy can impact your life. Therapy has helped me become the personI want to be today. When I had hard life circumstances come up, I neededsupport. I received that support from mental health professionals in clinicaltherapy settings. I can truly say without the support I received; I don’t knowwhat my life would look like today. I experienced a judgement free zone, struggled with hard questions, grieved, began healing, and persevered. I wasempowered to make my own decisions and pursue the life I love today.
I know firsthand that starting therapy can be scary. I’vebeen in the other seat before. Being vulnerable with someone you don’t knowvery well can be intimidating, but I also know that over time you build atherapeutic relationship, and it becomes easier, and more than that it’s worthit.
On a professional level, I have had the absolute honor andprivilege of walking through some of life’s toughest moments with people, and Ihave also watched them soar. Whether youare working through a past trauma, struggling with addiction, can’t understandwhy you are having intrusive thoughts, or why every relationship around youseems to falter, we can walk through the hard together. You don’t have to do italone.
