Faith-Based Affirmations for Confidence & Self-Love

Many people struggle with feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, or a diminished sense of self-worth.
While this may arise from negative or disappointing situations and circumstances, it can be worsened by
negative self-talk. How we speak to ourselves matters because we begin to believe the messages we
consistently hear. If we repeatedly hear that we are not good enough, flawed, or have constantly rehearsed
our missteps, we will ultimately conclude that we are not enough.


While therapy and connections with a mental wellness professional can be essential to challenging
negative thought patterns, faith-based affirmations can help reinforce God’s truth about who we are.
According to Dr. Diana Rangaves (2023), positive thinking has been shown to magnify the effects of
serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins in our brains, which is especially helpful in reducing depression.
Many of us have begun to believe things about ourselves that are factually untrue, and what better way to
overcome those lies than to turn to the truth? John 8:32 tells us, “You shall know the truth, and the truth
shall make you free.”


Let’s intentionally replace negative self-talk with the truth about who we are by practicing the faith-based
affirmations listed below.

Biblical Affirmations for Confidence & Self-Love

Here are some powerful scriptures that can be used as affirmations:

“I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” – Psalm 139:14

“God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7

“I am chosen, holy, and dearly loved.” – Colossians 3:12
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13
“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” – Hebrews 13:6

Repeating these affirmations daily can help reshape self-perception and build confidence in who God
created you to be.

Affirmations for Self-Love:

“I am worthy of love and kindness, especially from myself.”

“God loves me unconditionally, and I choose to love myself too.”

“Taking care of myself honors the life God has given me.”

“I release the need for perfection and embrace who I am.”

Self-love is not selfish; it’s an act of gratitude to God for the life He has given us. When we practice self-
love, we are better equipped to love others and walk fully in our purpose.

How to Use Affirmations Daily:
Start your morning with affirmations - Say them aloud while looking in the mirror.
Write them in a journal - Reflect on what they mean to you and how they challenge old beliefs.
Incorporate them into prayer - Ask God to help you believe these truths about yourself.
Use them to combat negative thoughts - Have one or two go-to affirmations to reach for when negative
thoughts arise.

Use sticky notes - Place them around your home as visual reminders.
Confidence and self-love start with believing what God says about you. By incorporating faith-based
affirmations into your daily routine, you can reframe negative thoughts, boost self-esteem, and walk in the
fullness of who you were created to be. Speak life over yourself; you are worthy, loved, and enough just as
you are.
